Smartkookie

At the 43T board game party, which Ruthg hosted in fine style, despite being seriously handicapped as a hostess by a mortifying excess of cheese and crackers, and a real dearth of chips and dip. But I digress. . . .

Smartkookie and her hubby were the quietest folks there . . . possibly even quieter than my hubby and I. But they were great sports (even when we stole their cards), and obviously had a sense of humor and what can only be described as a board game sensibility.

I could tell Smartkooie has a unique sense of style, which I really like . . . just one more thing I liked about her.

Making the trip to my second Chicago 43T meetup was much more relaxed than it had been to make the trip to my first one. This is most likely because I relied on public transportation. I was looking forward to seeing RuthG’s domicile, and it turned out to be just as tasteful and charming as I had thought it would be. When I walked into the dining room where everyone was gaming, Smartkookie had her back to me, which was a good thing because otherwise everyone would have seen my jaw drop to the floor.

To put it bluntly, Smartkookie is a babe. She has wavy raven tresses and beautiful wide eyes, which (if my memory serves me correctly… oh, I hope I’m not wrong… I feel like Jimmy in Thelma and Louise) are olive green. She is tall and thin, though not too thin. She also has a great fashion sense! I loved her necklace, and the clothes she wore were great for her already great figure.

The meetup happened in two parts; there was the gaming, and then a smaller group of us went to a nearby bar. Smartkookie was one of the ones who went to the second part of the meetup. She was gracious enough to pay for my drink (the public transportation had sucked up the meager funds I had scraped together for the event), but I managed to stop myself from hitting on her. I talked with her about what had been going on in my life for the past couple weeks – she has not been as active on 43T as she was before she started job hunting – and she returned the favor.

It’s my understanding that a second gaming meetup is going to happen again before too long. I definitely hope Smartkookie will be a part of it!

Much like a Snoopy novel, it was a dark and rainy night when we all gathered to play board games at RuthG’s. Everyone there was friendly and fun (totally expected since they’re all 43thingers for the most part), but Matt gets bonus points for bringing dark chocolate covered espresso beans.

We played board games. She’s very sweet and makes some REALLY tasty cookies. Mmmmmmmmmm!

To plaly board games! And according to the items in her 43things list, it looks like smartkookie is a perpetual learner: learn photoshop, learn how to paint with oil paints, and take a dance class. People who approach life with a thirst for learning are the type of people I’d love to meet! Plus she’s a thankful person: She wants to reflect daily on at least 5 things for which she’s grateful. :-) And she’s an artist. Trifecta! Learning, thanking, arting.

She has an excellent set of goals. And we are both editors & artists, so we’ll have plenty to talk about when we meet up to play games!
